St Peter & St Paul Church, Chaldon, CR3 5AL
St Peter & St Paul's Church, a Grade I listed building, was built in the late 10th/early 11th century. The church's construction still maintains its original flint work with stone dressings. The church is one of the oldest in Britain and is mentioned in the Domesday Book, 1086. It proudly contains one of the oldest murals in Europe.
Shields Restoration was privileged to be awarded this contract and worked closely with Ritchie Associates in constructing the new build extension.
We supplied and fitted Forest of Dean tracery windows and restored the original historic entrance doorway into the new extension. All surrounding flint work was installed using locally sourced materials to match the original fabric of the building.
This project is currently been considered for an award. |
